Black Friday

Hi Everyone,
Halloween was pretty fun. I went out both Friday and Saturday and had a good time. Today is Black Friday, which means it’s the first ECAC Hockey opener. Tonight we’re playing against Yale. They call it black Friday because the RPI team wears special black jerseys. I’m planning on going with a few friends [...]

Playoffs, Halloween, Haunted Houses, and TNO

This weekend is Halloween, it’s also playoffs for both the RPI men’s and women’s rugby teams, Troy Night Out, and my Fraternities 30th annual haunted house. For anyone who is unaware, Halloween is not just a holiday for children. It is a favorite among college students, because they get a chance to show their creative [...]

Halloween and upcoming events

Halloween is coming up! This means that my fraternity will be hosting an annual Halloween event called “Goobers.” It’s something we put on for Troy public school children. We collect a bunch of leaves, fill our hallway, and pretty much make it into a haunted house. It’s really fun to dress up and decorate rooms [...]

Fall Rush Over

Hi Everyone,
Fall rush is finally over. Greek fraternities are giving out bids this week and creating potential pledge classes. A bid is an invitation to become a member of the fraternity. Pledging is the process they go through to become a full member, as opposed to an associate member. Each pledge process depends on the [...]

Fall is here

This week marked the official start of fall. The leaves in and around Troy are beginning to change, the nights are getting into the 30s and 40s, the first round of exams is upon us, and fall rush for the fraternities on campus is ending. Now is the time when we really get a feel [...]

Life @ RPI

Since this is my first blog, I thought I’d begin by telling you a little about myself, and then some of my experiences at RPI thus far. There have been many factors that have helped guide me to where I am right now.
I am currently a junior pursuing a dual degree in Nuclear Engineering & [...]

This summer was great!

Hi Everyone,
This summer was great! I did an internship at a company in my field, mechanical engineering. It was really good experience and I learned a lot more about what engineers actually do. I also traveled to Peru with my family this summer. It was really nice to experience a different culture and spend time [...]

LESS THAN A MONTH UNTIL SCHOOL!

Student Orientation 3 & 4 as well as Transfer Orientation 1 just wrapped up this week. All this past weekend, I slept like a baby. Even after Student Orientation 4, I took a 3 hour nap in the afternoon just because I had been going non-stop for 2 weeks. I hope again that everyone enjoyed [...]

First-year advice

Now Listening – “When Your Heart Stops Beating” – +44
Hey Everyone! Chris here again.  This week went by really fast.  We have a lot of your packets put together for orientation and everything is coming together very nicely.  I decided to use this entry to give some advice to you for your first year.  These [...]

And so it begins…

I am very excited for Student Orientation to start. So far, we have sent out 1,167 confirmations with more still on their way. Other than getting your forms squared away, we’ve been working hard on getting everything ready for your arrival. A couple of things I’ve been working on are plotting out your class photo during NRB as well as designing the SO Staff T-Shirt. However, that’s just two of the long list of projects lined up for this summer.
