Good news and movies

Good News:  I did very well on my Intro to Engineering Analysis test this Wednesday.  The class is a tough one, but I’ve been putting in a lot of work and it has paid off.  On a similar note, last night I finished my math homework which is due Wednesday and also did most of [...]

A full week

I’ve noticed that nearly every day at the same time during my IEA class I can hear a fire truck close by.  I’m not quite sure what this says about Troy.  Perhaps 2:00-3:50 Monday and Thursday are very fire-prone times.  More likely, however, is that the Fire Dept is doing some sort of a test [...]

Halloween weekend

It’s time for the Halloween weekend! Crazy costumes, free food everywhere, scary movies during broad daylight, it’s the one day where it all comes together! As always, I paid my tuition costs right before the day arrived, so I’m dirt poor and in need of a costume. After digging through my closet, I guess I’ve [...]

I’m super excited for Halloween

I’m super excited for Halloween.  My costume is very simple and elegant if I do say so myself.  It is a lightbulb suspended above my head, which I can turn on and off using batteries in my pocket.  It took a bit of trial and error to make the setup work, but It works reliably [...]

This week was another one with plenty of work

This week was another one with plenty of work. I had an exam in chemistry on Wednesday and a quiz in calculus on Friday. I’m pretty sure I did well on both of them but I’ll just have to wait until next week to get my grades back. Speaking of next week, I have my [...]

I made a serious mistake this last week

I made a serious mistake this last week. I got less than six hours of rest a day. This resulted in the usual spread of issues, including falling asleep with my eyes open, sleeping in the lounge, and the inability to focus for any long length of time. I would not recommend imitating this. Whenever [...]

Sick

A major and obvious difference from Chapel Hill, NC to Troy, NY is the weather.  It is starting to get chilly here.  Today in my Science, Technology, and Society recitation I get to lead a discussion on over-consumption by the wealthy.  The class has really made me reconsider how I think.  One of the main [...]

Fall Rush Over

Hi Everyone,
Fall rush is finally over. Greek fraternities are giving out bids this week and creating potential pledge classes. A bid is an invitation to become a member of the fraternity. Pledging is the process they go through to become a full member, as opposed to an associate member. Each pledge process depends on the [...]

The RPI events start to begin

With the third week of classes out of the way, the RPI events start to begin. The Hockey Line tailgate party happened this week, which gave me an opportunity to try out my puck shooting skills against the Men’s Hockey goalie (I lost), so that was a pretty good start. Today, I’m probably going to [...]

Another semester underway

This semester I am enrolled in only 4 classes, but I think that I have my work cut out for me. My classes this semester are Fundamentals of Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Ethics, Thermals and Fluids Engineering, and Electronic Instrumentation. While these are all fairly challenging courses, so far they have been fairly interesting.
Right now, Fundamentals [...]
