I spent this past fall semester studying abroad in Italy and it was one of the most exciting and worthwhile experiences of my life. The program is part of the School of Architecture and consists of 10 weeks of study in Rome, 5 weeks of study in Torino and 3 weeks of travel throughout the country. We went all the major Italian cities including Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples, Verona and many others. I learned a lot about Italian culture, the delicious food and way of life. The people were friendly, the landscapes was breathtaking and the cities were vibrant and full of life at night. In Torino, we had the opportunity to work together with the Italian students from the Politechnico di Torino. It was part of an intensive workshop where we designed green facades for residential buildings in the city. We made friends with the students, who helped us assimilate with the culture and living in Italy. In Rome, our history classes were walking tours throughout the city, visting various palaces, piazzas, villas and other important monuments of Rome. It was such an unforgettable experience and I have a greater worldly perspective and appreciation for cultures different from my own.
